Doran Wright, Founding Pastor

Doran Wright is the founding pastor of Grace City Church Bridgeport, which he planted with his with, Sandy, in 2010. Raised in a family long involved in the starting of churches, in Bridgeport and elsewhere, Doran has served in leadership and pastoral roles in churches in Connecticut, Maine, and recently, New York City in the replanting of Trinity Grace Church Washington Heights (in northern Manhattan).

As a practitioner of the biblical philosophy of Christian Community Development in which he has been certified, Doran has a passion for seeking the “shalom” (peace) of the city of Bridgeport integral with proclaiming the holistic gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

In addition to his preaching and pastoral responsibilities, Doran serves in a number of community leadership roles including as Coordinator of Opening Doors Fairfield County Faith Leaders Collaborative, Provider Co-Chair of the Greater Bridgeport System of Care Joint Resource Collaborative (mental and behavioral health), as a Juvenile Review Board panelist (court diversionary and restorative juvenile justice program), and as a founding member of P.T. Partners, a site-based demonstration project of collective impact in the Black Rock, Bridgeport, neighborhood.

Doran received specialized training in urban church planting through Redeemer City-to-City, a sister organization of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, which has helped to plant several hundred churches. Doran has been married to Sandy for 40 years and they have three adult sons and five grandchildren.
